The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.
As a grade level, we try our best to analyze every test. We break up the test question by standard and then have percentages broken down for each question/standard. This helps see where we as educators perhaps fall short. Was it a poorly written question? Did we not go into enough detail? Did we not accurately explain the standard or give them enough time to practice? To help determine where the issue may like I do a variety of assessments one informal assessment being a daily quiz. I do both informal and formal assessments. In terms of an informal assessment I do a daily quiz at the end of a math lesson. I offer two quizzes depending on what developmental level they are at. I base this off of observations or how they have been doing based off their previous quizzes. The student performance will help me determine how to modify my teaching methods. Should students do poorly on the daily quiz makes me analyze the questions I asked above. I document and communicate student progress by logging test scores and analyzing how they rise or fall. Is the student on target for their expected development? By logging not only individual scores but comparing them to the class as whole, my other classes, and other classes within my grade level allows me to get a better understanding of what may be going on. Is it something the grade level as a whole did not fully grasp or is it something that I explained poorly. Comparing data is crucial and therefore it is important to track both informal and formal assessments. Standards- 6a, 6c, 6g
