The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.
7(e) The teacher plans collaboratively with professionals who have specialized expertise (e.g., special educators,
related service providers, language learning specialists, librarians, media specialists) to design and jointly deliver
as appropriate learning experiences to meet unique learning needs.
My inclusion teacher (Mr.Yama) and I had a unit titled “the great genetic debate”. Through this we explored genetics and ethics. My inclusion teacher also teaches resources classes, together we worked on modifying the packet to better fit the needs of his resource students. Both units started off with the review of genetics and heredity, then moved onto the topic of gene modification. For the resource packets they were much more guided in terms of the questions being asked. The videos and/or reading resources were also modified or switched out dependent on the students levels. Mr.Yama was able to walk me through the process of why some things may and may not work for his resource class and helped me to gain a better understanding of the benefit to modifying resources for different students.
Attached are both the gen ed/inclusion packet as well as the resource packet.
